not marked as a favorite taxon *Berberis vulgaris Linnaeus. Common name: European Barberry, Common Barberry. Phenology: Apr-May; Sep. Habitat: Disturbed areas. Distribution: Native of Europe. This species, once widely cultivated and established in North America, serves as an alternate host to wheat rust and has been subjected to eradication programs for over half a century.
