Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: Plants in w. LA and e. TX accepted here as B. pumila var. scabrella Nesom & Turner (1998) have also been considered to represent introgression between B. pumila and B. texana A.P. de Candolle (Pinkava in FNA 2006c).

Synonymy : = Nesom & Turner (1998); = Berlandiera ×betonicifolia Small — FNA21, K4, Tx, misapplied. Basionym: Berlandiera pumila (Michx.) Nutt. var. scabrella G.L.Nesom & B.L.Turner 1998
