*Ulex europaeus Linnaeus. Common name: Gorse, Furze. Phenology: (Jan-) May-Sep (-Nov). Habitat: Disturbed forests, roadsides, and disturbed areas. Distribution: Native of Europe. Not cited in Harvill et al. (1992), but naturalized in sandy soils in York County, VA.
