not marked as a favorite taxon Gillenia stipulata (Muhlenberg ex Willdenow) Nuttall. Common name: Midwestern Indian-physic. Phenology: May-Jun; Jul-Oct. Habitat: Dry to mesic woodlands and forests, especially over circumneutral soils derived from mafic rocks (such as diabase or greenstone) or calcareous rocks. Distribution: New York to Kansas, south to nw. Georgia and Texas, and disjunct east of the Blue Ridge in sc. Virginia, c. North Carolina, sc. South Carolina (Bradley et al. [in prep.]), and c. Georgia.
