*Luffa aegyptiaca P. Miller. Common name: Smooth Luffa, Sponge Gourd, Vegetable Sponge, Estropajo. Phenology: Jun-Oct. Habitat: Gardens, fields, trash heaps; commonly cultivated in home gardens and commercially, sometimes volunteering from seed the following year. Distribution: Native of s. Asia.
