*Pombalia parviflora (Mutis ex Linnaeus f.) Paula-Souza. Violetilla. Phen: Chasmogamous flowers: Apr; Jul-Oct. Hab: Disturbed areas, pastures. Dist: Native of South America. First collected in North America in New Jersey in the 19th century; and again in 1998 by Tom Govus at Fort Pulaski National Monument (Chatham County, GA); it is unclear whether this is a recent introduction or an old weed introduced via ship's ballast (Wofford et al. 2004), also introduced in South Africa, and in India (Parthipan 2019).
