Silene rotundifolia Nuttall. Common name: Roundleaf Fire-pink, Sandstone Fire-pink. Phenology: May-Jun. Habitat: Sandstones cliffs, ledges, and talus, and at bases of sandstone cliffs; also around limestone crevices and caves in central KY and TN, where it's even disjunct into the Bluegrass (albeit much rarer than on sandstone) (M. Brock, pers.comm., 2024). Distribution: S. OH and WV south to nw. GA (Jones & Coile 1988) and n. AL, nearly restricted to the Cumberland Plateau.
