*Silene dioica (Linnaeus) Clairville. Common name: Red Campion, Red Catchfly. Phenology: May-Aug. Habitat: Disturbed areas. Distribution: Native of Europe. Introduced south at least to scattered locations in s. PA (Rhoads & Klein 1993). Reported rather vaguely for VA (Maguire 1950) as "south to Virginia"; no additional documentation is known to me.

Origin/Endemic status: Europe

Synonymy : = C, FNA5, Il, K1, K3, K4, Mi, NE, NY, Pa; = Lychnis dioica L. – F, Tat
