Hygrophila lacustris (Schlechtendal & Chamisso) Nees. Common name: Gulf Swampweed. Phenology: Jun-Sep. Habitat: Shallow water of swamps and shores. Distribution: Sw. GA south to c. FL Peninsula, west to e. TX; West Indies.
Origin/Endemic status: Native
Taxonomy Comments: H. lacustris has recently been interpreted as a component within H. costata, widespread in the Neotropics (Daniel 2013). We here retain it as a separate taxon, but the issue is unsettled.
