Iva microcephala Nuttall. Common name: Small-headed Marsh-elder. Phenology: Sep-Oct. Habitat: Wet pine flatwoods, flatwood ponds, clay-based Carolina bays, Florida wet prairies, marshes. Distribution: Sc. North Carolina south to s. Florida, west to se. Alabama.
Origin/Endemic status: Endemic
Other Comments: A seed-banking annual, locally abundant some years and absent in others, depending on the variable hydrologic conditions of Carolina bays and other seasonally flooded wetlands.
