not marked as a favorite taxon *Bifora Hoffmann. Common name: Bishop.

Key to Bifora

A genus of 2 species, annual herbs, of Mediterranean Europe and w. Asia (Caucasus) (Plunkett et al. 2018). The two Eurasian species are members of the Angelica group, where they are most closely related to Coriandrum; thus, the American Bifora is now treated as the monotypic Atrema.

Subfamily: Apioideae. Tribe: Coriandreae.

ID notes: In our region, Bifora most resembles Coriandrum from which it is best distinguished by lacking sepals (versus sepals well developed) and its schizocarps splitting into mericarps (versus not splitting) (Levin 2024a; Nesom 2024c; Plunkett et al. 2018).
