*Caryota Linnaeus. Common name: Fishtail Palm.
A genus of about 17 species, trees and shrubs, native of the Old World tropics.
Subfamily: Arecoideae. Tribe: Caryoteae.ID notes: Leaves can be 1-pinnate, but are usually 2-pinnate when fully matured, making this genus unique in our flora's palm taxa.
