Solidago ulmifolia Muhlenberg ex Willdenow var. ulmifolia. Common name: Elmleaf Goldenrod. Phenology: Aug-Oct. Habitat: Rocky forests and woodlands, especially on mafic and calcareous substrates, moist hammocks (in FL). Distribution: NS, ME, ON, and MN, south to FL and TX.
Origin/Endemic status: Native
Taxonomy Comments: Beck et al. (2021) studied the recognition of var. palmeri and var. ulmifolia and did not find a basis for recognition of two varieties. We retain them as representing apparently meaningful variation within Solidago ulmifolia.
