Lithospermum Linnaeus. Gromwell, Puccoon, Stoneseed.
A genus of about 80 species, herbs (mostly perennials), nearly cosmopolitan. Studies strongly suggest that Onosmodium is better included in a broadened Lithospermum (Cohen & Davis 2009; Weigend et al. 2009), as Onosmodium is embedded within Lithospermum in a subclade also including L. tuberosum; morphologically, Onosmodium shows a subset of the characteristics in a broader and more diverse Lithospermum.
