*Noccaea Moench.

A genus of 128 species, perennial, biennial, and annual herbs, almost entirely of Europe, Asia, and n. Africa. Mummenhoff & Koch (1994) and Meyer (1973, 1979) discussed the reasons for separating Microthlaspi from Thlaspi; Al-Shehbaz (2012) suggested that this and other segregates might ultimately be placed in Noccaea, a decision confirmed and followed in Al-Shehbaz (2014).
