A genus of about 16 species, trees and shrubs, primarily distributed around the Caribbean Basin.
Subfamily: Coryphoideae. Tribe: Sabaleae.Key advice:The hastula is the triangle of tissue where the petiole joins the leaf blade, as seen on the upper (adaxial) surface.
