Centrosema virginianum (Linnaeus) Bentham var. angustifolium (A.P. de Candolle) Grisebach. Phenology: Jun-Aug; Jul-Oct. Habitat: Dunes, shell mounds, pine rocklands, other dry forests and woodlands. Distribution: S. GA, s. AL, and FL south to s. FL; Bahamas; Central America and n. South America.

Taxonomy Comments: Centrosema virginianum s.l. in the deep South and the West Indies has leaflets that are characteristically very narrow, (L:W ratios of 8:1 or greater). These are here accorded taxonomic recognition at varietal rank, but need additional study. Broad-leaved C. virginianum var. virginianum co-occurs throughout the distribution of C. virginianum var. angustifolium. There is a second "angustifolium" basionym in the Neotropics, Centrosema angustifolium Kunth.
