Platanus occidentalis Linnaeus var. palmeri (Kuntze) Nixon & J.M. Poole ex Geerinck. Plateau Sycamore, Palmer's Sycamore. Phen: Mar-Jun; Sep-Nov. Hab: Along rivers and streams. Dist: C. TX south and west to NLE, SLP, and COA; scattered eastwards and northwards to e. LA, e. TX, and nc. TX.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: This entity has been recognized at species and varietal rank, and also ignored as mere variation in P. occidentalis. The case for its recognition at some rank was made by Nixon & Poole (2003) and Grimm & Denk (2010).
