Trichostema bridgesii-orzellii K.S. McClelland. Section: Trichostema. Common name: Bridges’-and-Orzell's Blue Curls, Lake Wales Ridge Blue Curls. Phenology: Jun-Dec. Habitat: Florida scrub, longleaf pine sandhills, scrubby flatwoods. Distribution: Central FL on Lake Wales, Bombing Range, and Winter Haven Ridges.
Origin/Endemic status: Endemic
Taxonomy Comments: This species is cryptic with Trichostema suffrutescens, but the two species appear to be allopatric. The geographic split between these two species is currently unknown due to extensive habitat loss and restricted sampling in the genetic analysis, but the split is likely between the Lake Wales and Mt. Dora Ridges or somewhere on the northern Lake Wales Ridge, a split present in several other organisms.
