*Picea glauca (Moench) Voss. Common name: White Spruce. Habitat: Grown in forestry plantations and persistent from horticultural and silvicultural use. Distribution: Native of n. North America, where probably only truly native to cooler temperate regions and otherwise introduced in its more southerly occurrences.
ID notes: The cultivar 'Conica' (dwarf Alberta spruce) is used extensively in landscaping in cooler parts of the eastern US. These conical forms can occasionally be seen with some branches reverting back to original tree form.

Taxonomy Comments: It appears that the name with nomenclatural priority is Picea laxa (POWO 2024); if usage of the name Picea glauca is to retained, it will need to be conserved (see synonymy).
