Manfreda sileri Verhoek-Williams. Common name: Major Siler's Tube-rose, Major Siler's Huaco. Phenology: Apr-Jul. Habitat: In a variety of grasslands and shrublands, often in the shade of Vachellia rigidula. Distribution: S. and sc. TX (Bexar, Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr and Webb counties) to ne. Mexico (TAM).
ID notes: When not in flower, this species can be recognized by the relatively wide lanceolate leaves with or without round dark spots, and tiny sharp teeth along the margins.
