Habitat: Boreal forests, bogs, peaty swamps, basic seepage swamps, black ash-hemlock and red spruce-hemlock swamps. Distribution: Newfoundland and Labrador (Labrador) to Alaska, south to District of Columbia {specimen at NCU}, Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey (Magrath & Freudenstein in FNA 2002, Kartesz 1999), Virginia (Virginia Botanical Associates 2015; J. Townsend, pers. comm., 2015), allegedly Georgia (Small 1933), Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, South Dakota, New Mexico, California; Eurasia.
