Eustoma russellianum (Hooker) G.Don ex Sweet. Common name: Russell's Prairie-gentian, Texas Bluebell, Lira de San Pedro. Phenology: Mid-Jun-Sep. Habitat: Moist meadows and prairies. Distribution: SD and WY south to e. and w. LA, TX, NM, and Mexico (CHH, COA, TAM).
Origin/Endemic status: Native
Taxonomy Comments: The basionyms for Eustoma russellianum and Eustoma grandiflorum were apparently both published in 1838. It appears that the basionym for E. russellianum -- Lisianthius russellianus Hooker -- was published earlier in 1838 than the basionym for E. grandiflorum -- Bilamista grandiflora Rafinesque (Barnhart 1907) -- so it has nomenclatural priority.
