Glossary (beta!)

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Taxonomy Comments: Epling (1939) describes var. blodgettii from Key West, Dry Tortugas, and Cuba: [sic] Habana as differing from S. micrantha sensu stricto by having flowering calyces 5.5-7.0 mm long (7.5-8 mm at maturity), a corolla tube 5.5-7.6 mm long, an upper lip 1.2-2.0 mm high, and a lower lip 5.0-5.5 mm long (vs. S. micrantha sensu stricto with flowering calyces 3.5-5.5 mm long (at maturity 6-8 mm), a corolla tube 4-6 mm long, an upper lip 1.0-1.5 mm high, and a lower lip 2.5-4 mm long. Material of this alleged taxon should be sought (and subsequently tested) in the FL keys, although it may no longer be extant (although see A. Franck 5363; FLAS 278057, although this may not represent the concept of S. micrantha var. micrantha). Salvia micrantha (S. micrantha var. micrantha, if S. micrantha var. blodgettii is recognized as distinct) is otherwise widespread in the West Indies, Mexico, and Central America.
