Erythronium mesochoreum Knerr. Common name: Prairie Trout-lily, Midland Fawn-lily. Phenology: (Jan-) Feb-May. Habitat: Prairies, dry woodlands. Distribution: S. IN, n. IL, IA, and e. NE south to se. MO, c. AR, and e. TX.
Origin/Endemic status: Native
Taxonomy Comments: Some authors don't include this taxon in portions of the upper midwest. Plants in Indiana are apparently intermediate between E. mesochoreum and E. albidum (S. Namestnik, pers. comm.; 2024).
