Sagittaria spongiosa (Engelmann) Werier. Common name: Tidal Arrowhead. Phenology: May-Sep. Habitat: Tidal marshes and mud flats. Distribution: NB south to e. NC along the coast.

Taxonomy Comments: Werier & Kartesz (2013) clarified that the name S. spongiosa has priority over S. spatulata when the two are combined (as here) as a single taxon at species rank.
