Helanthium (Bentham & Hooker f.) Engelmann ex J.G. Smith. Common name: Dwarf-burhead.
A genus of 2-9 species, annual and perennial herbs. Lehtonen & Myllys (2008) conducted a cladistic analysis of morphological and molecular data of Echinodorus and related genera and determined that Helanthium should be separated at the generic level; this has been additionally confirmed and corroborated by Li et al. (2022).
