Brickellia Elliott. Common name: False-boneset, Brickell-bush.
A genus of about 100-110 species, herbs and shrubs, primarily of sw. North America and Mexico south into Central America. Kuhnia should be included within a broadly circumscribed Brickellia (Schilling et al. 2015; King & Robinson 1987; Shinners 1971). In a molecular analysis (Schilling et al. 2015), B. cordifolia is basalmost in a clade that makes up Brickellia s.s., while B. eupatorioides is in a clade that corresponds to the formerly recognized Kuhnia.
