Chrysopsis trichophylla (Nuttall) Elliott. Habitat: Longleaf pine sandhills, sandy roadsides, coastal dunes.

Origin/Endemic status: Endemic

Other Comments: The taxon treated by many authors as C. trichophylla was reduced to a form by Semple (1981), as C. gossypina ssp. gossypina f. trichophylla (Nuttall) Semple. He suggests, though, that varietal status may be warranted. Plants in SC previously identified as C. cruiseana are referable to C. trichophylla. 2n chromosome number=18.

Synonymy : = SE1; = Heterotheca trichophylla (Nutt.) Shinners — RAB; >< Chrysopsis arenicola Alexander — S; < Chrysopsis gossypina (Michx.) Elliott — C, G; < Chrysopsis gossypina (Michx.) Elliott ssp. gossypina — FNA20, K4, WH3, Semple (1981); >< Chrysopsis pilosa Nutt. — S, misapplied; > Chrysopsis trichophylla (Nutt.) Elliott — S; < Heterotheca gossypina (Michx.) Shinners — Harms (1974); Inula trichophylla Nuttall. Basionym: Inula trichophylla Nutt. 1818
