Intro: Annual herb from basal rosette, growing in disturbed areas, fields, roadsides and lawns. A native of Eurasia that now occurs throughout most of North America.
Stems: Stem a flowering stalk with reduced leaves, branched from base, hairy in the lower half and smooth in upper half.
Leaves: Basal leaves to 1½ in. long, oval to spoon-shaped with a few shallow teeth; the few alternate stem leaves are not toothed.

Flowers: Flowers in a dense terminal raceme that becomes more open as it elongates, white, ¼ in. wide and consisting of 4 tiny rounded petals.
