*Cephalotaxus harringtonia (Knight ex J. Forbes) K. Koch. Common name: Plum-yew. Habitat: Suburban woodlands. Distribution: Native of e. Asia. Somewhat uncommonly grown horticulturally, but increasingly naturalizing in the vicinity of plantings (as in Chapel Hill, Orange County, NC, and Grottoes, Augusta County, VA). Atha (2019) also reported this species as naturalizing in Bronx County, NY.
Origin/Endemic status: E. and se. Asia
Taxonomy Comments: Grown as several cultivars, which can appear quite different in size of plant, disposition of leaves, and disposition of branches. 'Fastigiata' cultivars have leaves arrayed radially around upright branches; other cultivars and wild forms have arching or horizontal branches and leaves distichously arrayed.
