*Cuscuta epithymum Linnaeus ssp. epithymum. Common name: Clover Dodder. Phenology: Jun-Oct. Habitat: Primarily on Trifolium and Medicago. Distribution: Native of Europe. Also known from scattered localities in PA (Rhoads & Klein 1993); reported for VA by Kartesz (1999), based on Massey (1961).
Origin/Endemic status: Europe
Taxonomy Comments: A second subspecies, ssp. kotschyi (Des Moulins) Arcangeli, is recognized, but has not appeared in our region.
