not marked as a favorite taxon Carex aestivalis M.A. Curtis ex A. Gray. Common name: Summer Sedge. Phenology: May-Jun. Habitat: Northern hardwood forests, northern red oak forests, other dry-mesic to mesic forests and moist rock outcrops at medium to high elevations. Distribution: VT south to n. GA, in or near the Appalachians.
