Carex roanensis F.J. Hermann. Common name: Roan Mountain Sedge. Phenology: May-Jun. Habitat: Cove forests, moderate to high elevation oak forests, northern hardwood forests. Distribution: Sw. PA, w. VA, and e. WV south through e. KY, e. TN, w. NC to se. TN and nw. GA (Smith & Waterway 2008; Smith et al. 2006). First reported for VA by Wieboldt et al. (1998).
