Capnoides sempervirens (Linnaeus) Borkhausen. Common name: Rock Harlequin, Tall Corydalis, Pink Corydalis, Pale Corydalis. Phenology: Apr-Aug (-Nov); May-Sep (-Nov). Habitat: Rock outcrops and rocky glades, especially granitic exfoliation domes, but also quartzite, greenstone, and sandstone, up to at least 1700 m in elevation. Distribution: NL (Newfoundland) west to AK, south to NJ, PA, in and near the mountains to ne. GA, n. OH, n. IN, MN, MT, and BC.

Horticultural Information
Intro: Erect biennial of rock outcrops, especially granitic exfoliation domes, but also quartzite, greenstone and sandstone.
Stems: Stems branched from base, sometimes red-tinged, smooth and with a white-waxy coating.
Leaves: Leaves alternate, petiolate (upper leaves nearly sessile), divided into 3-5 lobed, primary segments (1/4-3/4 in. long), which are pale green and smooth.
Inforescence:
Flowers: Flowers in erect terminal raceme or panicle, pink and yellow, 1/2-3/4 in. long, bilaterally symmetric, consisting of a flattened-tubular corolla with a spur at the back and bright yellow lips at front.
Fruits: Fruit an erect, narrow cylindrical pod-like capsule.
Comments: Foliage appears lacy. Seeds are dispersed by ants.
