not marked as a favorite taxon Hypoxis sessilis Linnaeus. Common name: Glossy-seed Stargrass. Phenology: Apr (-later, especially in response to fire); May (-later, especially in response to fire). Habitat: Longleaf pine sandhills, other dryer pinelands, Sporobolus silveanus prairies (TX), sand prairies (AR), Piedmont woodlands on sandy or rocky soils. Distribution: North Carolina south to s. Florida, west to e. Texas, s. Arkansas, and se. Oklahoma.

Taxonomy Comments: The potential recognition of H. longii needs additional assessment as its lumping is presumptive; see Weakley, Ludwig, and Townsend (2013) for discussion.
