*Iris ensata Thunberg. clade: Limniris. Common name: Japanese Iris. Phenology: Jun-Jul. Habitat: Roadsides; cultivated and rarely escaped. Distribution: Native of Japan, n. China, and Sakhalin. Also reported from se. PA (Rhodes & Klein 1993) and s. AL (H. Horne, pers. comm. 2013).

Origin/Endemic status: E. and se. Asia

Synonymy : = K1, K3, K4, NE; = Limniris ensata (Thunb.) Rodion. – Crespo, Martínez-Azorín, & Mavrodiev (2015); = n/a – C, FNA26, Pa, RAB; ? Iris kaempferi Siebold ex Lam.
