Iris nelsonii L.F. Randolph. Common name: Nelson's Iris. Phenology: Mar-Apr. Habitat: Swamp forests. Distribution: Endemic (so far is known) to Vermilion Parish, LA.

Taxonomy Comments: This species is often regarded as merely a hybrid, but it has been shown to be a stable species of homoploid hybrid origin, isolated from its parents, I. brevicaulis, I. fulva, and I. hexagona.

Synonymy : = Iris ×nelsonii Randolph (pro sp.) — K4; = n/a — FNA26. Basionym: Iris nelsonii Randolph 1966
