Juglans microcarpa Berlandier var. microcarpa. Common name: Little Walnut. Phenology: Apr. Habitat: Limestone outcrops, in riparian areas along streams. Distribution: Sc. KS and nc. NM south through ec. TX and s. AZ to Mexico (CHH, COA, NLE).

Taxonomy Comments: Var. stewartii (I.M. Johnston) W. Manning occurs in the Chisos Mountains of Texas and the Hechiceros Mountains of Coahuila; it differs from var. microcarpa in its larger fruits and broader leaflets
