Eugenia foetida Persoon. Common name: Spanish Stopper, Boxleaf Stopper. Phenology: Jan-Dec. Habitat: Maritime and rockland hammocks, shell mounds, coastal berms, coastal strands. Distribution: Peninsular FL (Brevard County on the east coast and Manatee County on the west coast southwards); West Indies; Mexico (CAM, CHP, OAX, ROO, YUC) and Central America.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Synonymy : = Bah, Fl4, FNA10, K4, Meso4.1, Mex, SFla, WH3, WI; = Eugenia buxifolia (Sw.) Willd. — S, S13; = Eugenia myrtoides Poir. — Wilson (1960c). Basionym: Eugenia foetida Pers. 1807 [1806]
