Myrcia aromatica Schlechtendal. Common name: Pale Lidflower, Spicewood. Phenology: Apr-Oct. Habitat: Rockland hammocks. Distribution: S. FL; West Indies; Mexico and Central America.

Origin/Endemic status: Native

Taxonomy Comments: We disagree with the reduction in rank of this species to a variety in the Myrcia chytraculia complex, as done by Burton, Campbell, & Lucas (2021) and Burton et al. (2022). It appears that the correct name for this species (at species rank) in Myrcia is M. aromatica Schlechtendal 1838, based on synonymy shown in Burton et al. (2022).
