*Bougainvillea ×buttiana Holttum & Standley. Common name: Bougainvillea, Paper-flower. Habitat: Grown horticulturally, naturalizing and persisting. Distribution: Native of South America.
Origin/Endemic status: South America
Taxonomy Comments: Bougainvillea ×buttiana is a hybrid between B. glabra and B. peruviana. The specific identity of the naturalized Bougainvillea in portions of our flora area will be difficult to determine due to the complicated history of horticultural crosses responsible for much of the material present in landscapes today.
