Persicaria careyi (Olney) Greene. Common name: Carey's Knotweed. Phenology: Jul-Oct. Habitat: Moist soils, beaver and muskrat lodges, disturbed areas. Distribution: New Brunswick west to Ontario and Minnesota, south to Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, seemingly widely scattered. Reported for sc. Pennsylvania (Rhoads & Klein 1993; Rhoads & Block 2007), Delaware, New Jersey, and Maryland (Kartesz 1999). Found on a granite dome in sw. NC (E. Raskin, pers.comm., 2026).
