not marked as a favorite taxon *Salix babylonica Linnaeus. Common name: Weeping Willow. Phenology: Mar-Apr. Habitat: Disturbed bottomlands, streambanks, roadsides, impoundments, other disturbed areas. Distribution: Native of Asia. Note that many trees identified as S. babylonica may actually be one of two commonly cultivated hybrids, S. × pendulina and S. ×sepulchralis, with S. babylonica as one parent.
