*Sphenoclea zeylanica Gaertner. Common name: Chickenspike, Gooseweed. Phenology: Jun-Nov. Habitat: Rice fields, reservoirs, ditches, other disturbed wetlands. Distribution: Native of Old World tropics.

Origin/Endemic status: Paleotropics

Synonymy : = Ar, Fl6, FNA14, K4, Mo3, NcTx, S, Tx, WH3, Rosatti (1986); = Sphenoclea zeylandica — GW2, RAB, orthographic error (presumably from a mistaken notion that the epithet refers to New Zealand rather than Ceylon). Basionym: Sphenoclea zeylanica Gaertn. 1788
