*Ulmus ×intermedia Elowsky. Common name: Hybrid Elm. Distribution: Recognizable from its intermediacy between its parents and occurrence in proximity to both. This hybrid apparently occurs in many midwestern States (cited for IA, IL, KS, MN, NE, SD, TX) (Elowsky, Jordon-Thaden, & Kaul 2013); the increasingly common naturalization of U. pumila in our area, and its proximity to populations of U. rubra would seem to make it inevitable that this hybrid occurs in our area.
Origin/Endemic status: E. and se. Asia
Taxonomy Comments: See Elowsky, Jordon-Thaden, & Kaul (2013) for detailed information.
Synonymy ⓘ: = K4, POWO; = n/a — FNA3, G, NS. Basionym: Ulmus ×intermedia Elowsky 2013
