A genus of 2 species, shrubs, native of e. and se. Asia. Wu et al. (2018) showed Boehmeria to be polyphyletic, with B. nivea likely to be separated from the genus; Fu et al. (2025) removed Boehmeria nivea to Archiboehmeria.
