Valerianella radiata (Linnaeus) Dufresne. Phenology: Apr-May. Habitat: Moist forests, bottomlands, disturbed areas. Distribution: VA, s. IL, and KS, south to n. FL, Panhandle FL, and TX.

Leaves: Basal leaves spoon-shaped and forming a rosette in winter; stem leaves opposite, usually clasping, oblong with rounded tips, to 3 in. long, often toothed near base of leaf.

Inforescence:

Flowers: Flowers in terminal, flat-topped clusters, less than 1 in. wide and surrounded by lance-shaped, hairy-margined bracts; white; tiny; consisting of 5 petals and 3 protruding stamens.

Fruits:

Comments: Has a tendency to form colonies through re-seeding.
