*Viola arcuata Blume. Section: Plagiostigma. Subsection: Bilobatae. Phenology: Chasmogamous flower May. Habitat: Lawns. Distribution: Native of e. Asia. Found in Bronx, NY, n. NJ (Ballard, Kartesz, & Nishino 2023), and NC (Anson Co.).

ID notes: This species is distinctive in its broadly reniform-deltate cauline leaves with somewhat remotely low-serrate margins, but the occasionally white corolla, short spur, and basally reclining stems could be confused with V. striata if the proportionally broader leaf blades were ignored. The commonly node-rooting basal portion of the stems and slender entire to remotely denticulate stipules would distinguish this species.

Origin/Endemic status: E. and se. Asia

Synonymy : = K4, Ballard, Kartesz, & Nishino (2023); = n/a — FNA6, NS; = Viola hamiltoniana — POWO. Basionym: Viola arcuata Blume 1825
