Viola subsinuata E.L. Greene var. 1 ["Chapel Hill" variant] . Section: Nosphinium. Subsection: Borealiamericanae. Common name: Chapel Hill Violet. Phenology: Apr-May. Habitat: Sandy or rocky loamy soils in rich dry and dry-mesic forests, probably associated with mafic rocks. Distribution: Endemic to nc. NC (so far as is known).
